Mothers for Peace 40th Anniversary April 25

Earlier in the month, as part of the celebration, on Friday, April 17, a documentary about nuclear power in California A Question of Power, was shown at the San Luis Obispo County Library. A Question of Power (1986) is a moving and informative documentary of the nuclear power controversy.  Narrated by Peter Coyote, the film focuses on 35 years of grassroots opposition to the “peaceful atom” in California.

“A Question of Power is one of the best and most definitive media histories of the antinuclear movement… It should be seen by everyone who cares about the Earth, about our legacy to the future and about effective techniques of social change.”
~John Gofman, M.D., Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Medical Physics, U.C. Berkeley.

The creator of the film: David L. Brown and some of the “stars” – opposition organizers and participants were on a panel. Members of the audience were encouraged to share their own experiences and view historic scrapbooks. Info 773-3881 www.mothersforpeace.org.
