Walk in Her Shoes
On April 25, 2009 at about noon, men from all walks of life will walk one mile through downtown San Luis Obispo in women’s high heeled shoes to protest rape, sexual assault & gender violence. Proceeds from sponsored walkers in the event will benefit the Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention (SARP) Center’s violence prevention efforts and provision of crisis services in San Luis Obispo County.
Educators, students, law enforcement officers, elected and appointed officials, and others are expected to participate. The march is scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm with registration and check in starting at 11:00 am at Mitchell Park, located at 1400 Osos Street. Men, women, and children are invited to participate and pre-registration is welcome. The registration fee is $20 per person, or $100 for a team with a maximum of six members. All participants registering prior to April 14, 2009 will receive a free event t-shirt. Men are encouraged (but not required) to walk in women’s shoes.
