Chain Reaction - Bike Month

Bike Month begins with the 3rd Annual Commuter Bike Challenge where organizations compete to get the highest percentage of people from their company riding bikes. Participating companies are segregated into five different size brackets. Winning organizations will receive a private Firestone Brewery tour and tasting and a personalized placard. Individuals participating in the Commuter Bike Challenge will receive a Bike Month 2009 t-shirt (while supplies last) and will be entered into weekly prize drawings. Executives who participate in the Commuter Bike Challenge will be asked to ride their bike once during Bike to Work Week, May 18-22 and be recognized in a full page ad in the Tribune, May 17th.

The 2nd Annual Bike Art Gallery, Bike Momentum Art Show, at 1060 Osos Street, San Luis Obispo will open its doors on May 1st. Bike related art will be displayed all month and sold in a silent auction, with all proceeds benefiting the San Luis Obispo Bicycle Coalition. The Art Gallery will also feature the Bike Month Awards Ceremony and the 2nd Annual Bike Month Fashion Show on May 30th. Winners of the Commuter Bike Challenge and participants of the Executive Commute Challenge will be recognized at this culminating event.

Other Bike Month events include: Weekly bike maintenance classes hosted by the SLO Bike Kitchen, Bike Confidence Workshops hosted by the SLO Bicycle Coalition, a special screening of the movie Veer at the Palm Theatre, Kidicle Mass, Bike Breakfasts every Friday, Bike to School Days, recreational rides, Cal Poly Bike Fest, Bike-in Movie, 3rd Annual Safe Routes to School Workshop, Make the Grade, Errands by Bike Day, Edna Valley Wine Tour by Bike, Bike Trivia Night at Woodstocks Pizza, and much, much more.
