Give Kids the Freedom with a Summer Break Pass
| 12 May 2009
This is the second year Rideshare has administered the non-profit pass. The goal of the program is to build healthy commuting habits, with the intention that kids using Summer Break Pass will be more likely to take the bus as adult commuters. In addition, by providing kids the freedom of travel, parents are able to reduce vehicle trips, miles and emissions they would otherwise create driving their kids, thereby protecting the environment and saving money. The funds gained from pass purchases are redirected into the program – providing travel training and encouraging youth to use transit.
“In my history as the Transit Manger for SLO Transit, we have never had a safety issue with our riders, especially our youth passengers. All of our drivers are trained in customer service to assist passenger and all of our buses are video camera equipped,” stated John Webster, SLO Transit Manager. Along with the transit pass, information on how to use the bus, where it will take you and even an online bus trip planner is available online at www.summerbreakpass.com.
Parents can purchase the pass starting on May 4th online at www.summerbreakpass.com or at any fare outlet for only $30. Passes can also be purchased over the phone at 781-4362.
