Local Foods Getting Even Better

So, you don’t think it can get even better? It’s nt so much about the food we grow here, but getting it to you from local farms can improve. Many of us already buy fresh and local and visit one of the many farmers’ markets in the area or buy a box a week from a local CSA. However, many locals cannot make it to a Farmer’s market or have tried a CSA and it just doesn’t meet one’s needs.

A group of local farmers, over sixteen farms and ranches, has been working for the past two years to bring the products of the Central Coast Agriculture Cooperative (CCAC) to local consumers. Local organic and grass feed beef and lamb, fresh organic and sustainably-grown fruits and vegetables, honey, olive oils and more will soon be available to the general public. CCAC, doing business as www.coastgrown.com, is revamping their business plan to include custom ordering by customers, home delivery services and a County-side CSA. And, CCAC will also provide product to local restaurants, grocery and health food stores.

There’s still more work to be done to put this ambitious project together, but the farmer’s are working non-stop to launch this new buying and distribution program by early December. Keep an eye on our website for announcements and changes coming soon, www.coastgrown.com.
